In case you’re still uncertain if you should be using a moisturizer let me remind you.
Moisturizers help prevent skin from drying out, they also act as a barrier to protect your skin from outside elements.
Now if you have oily skin you might be saying well dried-out skin is not really an issue for me. You maybe surprised to learn that oily skin may still have dry patches. This can affect how smoothly your makeup goes on.
Additionally moisturizers can enhance the active ingredients found in serums or acids which you may use before. I have oily skin. This meant as a teenager growing up in humid Barbados the objective was to remove any shine possible. This involved using Witch Hazel or some sulphur based product. Needless to say this sent my skin into overdrive producing even more oil and more acne!
Getting older and living in a colder climate I’ve seen my skin change. My skin has begun to feel a lot tighter and dryer for longer after I wash my face. A moisturizer became
an essential part of my beauty routine.
I don’t want a moisturizer that is going to feel and make me look ‘greasy’. I want my skin to stay hydrated. I tend to prefer light-weight formulas that usually have some form of hyaluronic acid and retinol as part of their ingredient.
Here are my favorites:
The hyaluronic acid is great for keeping skin plump and hydrated. It is a nice lightweight formula which doesn’t feel greasy at all. A little goes a long way with this product and make sure that it is evenly applied onto the skin. I prefer using this in the drier winter months.
It tends to have a ‘wetter’ feel than other moisturizers. If I wasn’t wearing makeup on a particular day, I would use this moisturizer especially in the summer months. This is one of my favorites when I’m on holiday in Barbados where it’s always humid.
The sister of my boyfriend owns a pharmacy and pharmacists in Italy have access to the best of the best products when it comes to skin care. She introduced me to this face cream and it’s one of my favorites for the winter time.
Shiseido knows skin. This cream is a bit on the pricier side but I have to say it is one of the best I’ve tried on the market for oily skin. It makes my skin feel like velvet and my skin doesn’t feel sticky and greasy after wearing it all day.
